What Is a Flood Cut?

Opening Walls the Right Way

When water soaks into drywall, it wicks upward and wets the insulation behind it. Leaving it in place traps moisture against the studs. A flood cut is a straight, level cut through the drywall, typically 12 to 24 inches above the highest wet reading, so wet material can be removed and the cavity can dry.

We map moisture first, snap a level line, cut cleanly, bag and remove wet insulation, then set air movers and dehumidifiers. Clean cuts mean less waste, faster drying and a patch that disappears after rebuild.
