Wind Damage Roof Repair After Hurricane Isaias

What Hurricane Wind Does to a Roof

Wind gets under shingle edges and lifts them. Even if a shingle lies back down, the seal strip that holds it is broken — and a creased shingle has a cracked mat that will leak and blow off later. Hurricane wind also strips ridge caps, tears tabs, pulls nails through, cracks and slips tile, and loosens metal panels and trim.

Much of this can't be seen from the ground. Our inspectors check every slope by hand, lift and test seal strips, photograph every crease and tear, and capture the full roof with a drone.

  • Lifted and unsealed shingles
  • Creased, torn and missing shingles
  • Stripped ridge caps and hip shingles
  • Cracked, slipped and displaced tile
  • Loose metal panels, fasteners and trim
  • Damaged flashing, vents and pipe boots

Questions We Hear Most

Can a roof look fine and still be wind damaged?

Yes. Broken seal strips and creased shingles are often invisible from the yard. That's why we inspect by hand and photograph what we find.

Repair or replace?

It depends on how much of the roof is damaged, its age, and Florida Building Code requirements for repairs. We give you multiple written options on the first visit.
