Hurricane Isaias Recovery · Florida Panhandle

Wind vs. Hail Roof Damage

Two Kinds of Storm Damage

Wind damage shows up as lifted shingles with broken seal strips, horizontal creases across the shingle, torn tabs, missing shingles and stripped ridges. It tends to concentrate on edges, ridges and the windward slopes.

Hail damage shows up as round bruises and granule loss, often with a fractured mat underneath, scattered across slopes facing the storm. Soft metals like vents and gutters often show dents too.

A hurricane can cause both. We document each separately so your repair scope is accurate.
